Warm a heart and give a pair of jeans
Update: over 2,000 jeans collected!
´Heat a heart, give a pair of jeans´ was a great success! In 2 hours on April 10, over 2,000 jeans were dropped off, counted, sorted and picked.
Through our social partners, the jeans end up with people who desperately need them. And to complete the circle, Hazenberg came to collect the rejected jeans - they transform them into sustainable insulation material for social housing.
Thank you to everyone who did their part! Together we made our region a little more social again.
"Jeans are always in short supply. Besides winter coats, can't you collect jeans?"
We hear this wish of Kledingbank Eindhoven more often from poverty relief organizations. Because even in our prosperous Brainport region, people live with money worries. At least 1,300 people in Eindhoven are homeless. And through divorce, illness or losing your job, for example, it can happen that there is not enough money left for clothes.
For these people, we are getting back to work, together with involved organizations.
From March 24 to April 9, we are collecting jeans again!

On April 10, the jeans will be sorted and selected by local foundations that work daily to help people living below the poverty line: Bebizzy, COA AMV Glow hotel, Diaconal drop-in center 't Hemeltje, Sociaal Solidair, Springplank040, St Rechterhanden, Kledingbank, NEOS HK1, Zorgplein Brabant and Leger des Heils. Pants that are left over go to the recycling and broken pants are processed into sustainable insulation material.
For eight years each fall, we have provided extra warm winter coats for local poverty relief organizations. Give your jeans a second life and donate. Double down on doing good! Warm a heart and donate a pair of jeans.
Poverty in the Netherlands
Although the Netherlands is among the richest countries in Europe, poverty is here too. Research by the Social and Cultural Planning Office (SCP) and the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) shows that single-parent families, people from non-Western backgrounds, welfare recipients and single people under the age of 65 are at high risk of severe poverty. Poverty manifests itself, among other things, in (very) limited financial resources, social exclusion, health problems and limited access to education.

The impact of jeans
The fashion industry is one of the world's leading polluting industries. The production and distribution of cotton crops contributes to various forms of environmental pollution, including water, air and soil pollution. The fashion industry is a huge industry; it employs 300 million people around the world. Cotton production alone accounts for nearly 7% of all employment in some low-wage countries. Read more
